Background:
Not much information are available on the previous Malacca ACS Old Boys' Associations.
There probably was never a continuously active OBA especially in the last two or three

decades. The most recent evidence of an existing OBA was a Congratulatory Advertisement in the 1985 75th Anniversary edition of The Macsian. The OBA was then named as the ACS Old Pupils' Association. Unfortunately The Macsian was not published from 1986 till 1994 and so no information during this period was available.
In October 2006, Principal Mr Francis Ong Chhian Po had called for a meeting to form an OBA in anticipation of the Malacca ACS Centenary celebrations. Unfortunately the response was very poor with only three respondents in Koh Tiam Guan ('66), Danny Chiew Hock Chwee ('79) and Mak Kai Kin ('71). Although a follow up meeting was subsequently held there was no further development until the morning of the actual Centenary celebrations on 5th March 2011 when a good turnout of old boys gathered at the tuckshop for a meeting on the formation of an OBA. The ACS Malacca 71-75 eGroup and the Macsian '74 Group, were to be credited for organising and funding the meeting which harnessed the prevailing enthusiasm generated by the Centenary festivities. A pro-tem committee was duly elected but unfortunately, it was stillborn paradoxically due to over-enthusiasm and perhaps a case of too many cooks.
A study of the various old newspaper reports found online indicates that our past OBAs did
not enjoy longevity and while the old boys whether individually or as an association were

always a feature of our alma-mater's activities especially in sports and were represented in the school's organisation, new OBAs were formed periodically, apparently to replace dormant or deactivated ones.
Moving forward, we seek your support and encouragement to help make your new Malacca ACS Old Boys' Association (MACS) an effective, relevant and continually active one. It is

recognised that many individual alumni classes and groups may continue to have intra and inter group-school roles of their own but united under MACS we can work together to promote greater solidarity and fellowship. In addition, greater value can be added to membership and it can facilitate expansion beyond local activities to inter-alumni association programs and co-operation to reap mutual benefits, promote friendship and networking. A good case in point is MACS having hosted other OBA representatives and the good support by St Francis Association with two tables booked for their members to attend our recent Malacca ACS
Homecoming Dinner last 27th April, 2019.
As past and recent history will attest, the road ahead may be challenging and difficult but with your support we hope to succeed. Ad Astra Per Aspera!
